The Alzheimer's Foundation of America (AFA) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to "provide optimal care and services to individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and related illnesses and to their families and caregivers" (source: https://alzfdn.org).

Since its founding in 2002, the AFA has grown to a network of more than 2,600 member organizations nationwide that provide direct care to individuals and the families of individuals living with Alzheimer's disease and dementia.

As part of her company's commitment to continuing education, Companion Home Care owner Michelle Belton recently completed the AFA Dementia Care Partners certification course.

"The AFA Dementia Care Partners course was great for its new information and also confirmed many of the things that I've seen in my almost 15 years of being a caregiver for people with Alzheimer's," said Belton. "The examination was quite challenging as it consisted of open ended essay style questions based on different real life scenarios that one may encounter as a caregiver."
